Genital Human Papillomavirus Infection in women from Florianópolis - Santa Catarina, Brazil

Introduction: Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most common sexually transmitted in women. About 80% of active women will have contact with this virus at some age their lives. Most infections be transient, but when becomes persistent, associated high oncogenic risk HPV, there may progression to cancer, especially cervical cancer. The best way prevent HPV through use vaccines. Objective: To assess which are prevalent types city Florianópolis, Brazil and if majority diagnosed contained vaccines currently available on market public health sector. Methods: More than 14,727 tests were evaluated for diagnosis genital from Florianópolis. prevalence was according detection performed using molecular biology tests, such as hybrid capture (for group, or low risk) PCR (viral genotyping) techniques.
